The land of decoration - Grace McClean

I became interested in this when it was chosen as one of Waterstones Eleven 2012. It tells the story of Judith, a motherless child who, in her loneliness creates her own fascinating miniature world on the floor of her bedroom. She starts believing that she is able to make things happen using her own will. At the beginning I expected the story to be depressing, since Judith is neglected and bullied, but instead found myself caring for the characters. A hopeful yet sad story with its own charm.
