Having been told by the lady at the bookshop that this is the weakest novel by Sarah Waters it was a real pleasure to discover a wonderful story. It chronicles the lives of four different people, with lives all linked in some way.Starting in 1946 then moving back through the 1940's to arrive at the beginning in 1941, we travel back in time to uncover secret and connections which bring them together. A book about relationships, it is very affecting. Waters is a fantastic storyteller and consistently good.
