This is a book of short stories all connected by the Blackbird House and its inhabitants. In the first a small boy Isaac saves a fledgling blackbird before he dies at sea during a storm. Each story features the blackbird who returns again and again. The stories are so diverse and cleverly connected, Hoffman is a mesmerizing storyteller.
