A dark crime novel set in Regency London. Thomas Shield has a new post as master at a public school on the outskirts of London.  He becomes involved in the life of one of his pupils in what becomes a creepy, atmospheric tale. Coffins, ice houses, murder and odd characters, this has a Dickensian feel and is wonderfully written. I really enjoyed this.
